Israel sends a relief delegation to Haiti

A 220-person delegation, headed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials arrives to Haiti

Israel wishes to express its solidarity with the Government and people of Haiti during this great disaster. We send our condolences to the families of the casualties, and wish the injured a speedy recovery.

Israel is doing all in its power to help the people of Haiti cope with the disaster in their country. A 220-person delegation, headed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, will leave Thursday evening (14 January 2010) for Port-au-Prince on two Boeing 747 jets leased from El Al by the IDF. The relief package includes a Home Front Command field hospital and rescue unit, as well as teams from Magen David Adom and Israel Police.

Israel's ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Amos Radian, is currently in Port-au-Prince, where he is coordinating Israel's contribution with local authorities and international aid agencies.

On December 27, 2008, after enduring an 8-year-long barrage of 12,000 rockets and having exhausted all other options, Israel launched a military operation against Hamas in Gaza.

 

Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a special website (http://www.mfa.gov.il/GAZAFACTS) which provides factual information addressing the legal and political context of the conflict in Gaza, the issue of Gaza war crimes, the issue of human rights and the investigations into the Israeli military conduct during combat.

 

The website discusses various issues relating to the Israeli military operation undertaken by the Israel Defense Force (IDF), better known as "Operation Cast Lead" or "The Gaza Operation" in December 2008-January 2009.

The Consulate of Israel in Houston has available a number of photography exhibits portraying Israel's vibrant culture and extraordinary history through its unique and varied landscape, its marvelously preserved archaelogical sites, and the diverse and revealing faces of its people.

    large crates.  Photos can be hung or placed on easels.
